Purpose
It is a great blessing to be saved by grace through faith in Christ alone!
Once we are saved, we are responsible to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. This spiritual progress requires the powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit. He opens our hearts to receive the Word of God, and He teaches us to depend upon the Lord.
As Christians, we need to be encouraged by Scripture and empowered by God through prayer… far more often than once a week! This is the reason for our mid-week small group meetings: to provide more frequent opportunities to study God’s truth and to pray for one another. As we engage in thoughtful biblical discussion, the memorization of Scripture, and prayer for the people and ministry of Hillcrest, we look for the continued blessing of the Lord.
We are living in difficult times. Scripture reminds us that the world, the flesh, and the devil are actively opposing all who would live for Christ. This spiritual warfare calls for careful attention to holiness of life. At Hillcrest, as we endeavor to stand for the truth by the faithful proclamation of the Word, our local group meetings serve as another facet of this ministry.
